August 26, 2013 – Wilmington, NC – Founded in 2003, La Cima World Missions is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing medical and dental care to parts of the world that are most in need. They partner with other volunteer and charitable organizations to discover new opportunities to provide aid.
In 2012, Live Oak Bank provided funding for medical and dental equipment for La Cima World Missions’ trip to Southeast Asia along the Thai/Burma border. This year, the organization is taking a team of three dentists to the main, remote island of Yap, where they will do extractions, restorative work, cleanings, and whatever else is needed. They will also be transporting equipment, which in large part was funded by Live Oak Bank, to be left on the island once their work is complete, allowing the only full-time dentist in Yap access for the future.
“We received word about this mission to Yap from my church,” commented Dave Sperow, Founder of La Cima World Missions. “The only dentist on the island is in Fiji furthering her education, so currently, there is no way for the residents to receive dental care. We hope to provide some relief in her absence.”
“We are grateful to Dave and his team of volunteers for their willingness to venture into these remote and dangerous areas of the world to provide their expertise and services to those in need,” expressed Keith Merklin, General Manager at Live Oak Bank. “We are glad to assist with financing their trip and look forward to continuing this relationship.”
