Position Summary:

Live Oak Bank is pioneering innovative solutions to support our customers’ dreams of building their own business.  Your role is instrumental in decreasing the time to market for critical services to our customers.  You will do this by partnering with the Lines of Business, Application Development Team, QA Managers, Product Owners, IT/Infrastructure, other key teammates, and external Third Party partners to drive the completion of projects both with Technology and Product related projects.  This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the project.  This role will not only include the change related to technology, but also be responsible for the people and process changes.

Essential Functions:

  1. Lead implementation of projects, working with the project teams to define the overall goals, scope, requirements, design, work breakdown structure and milestones for current and future projects
  2. Author required project documentation, including project charter, scope, schedule, risks, issues, and implementation documents
  3. Manage schedule and cost from inception to completion
  4. Define and track areas of risk, develop mitigation plans, and build consensus on key project decisions
  5. Responsible for the escalation of project issues and for communication of project status to all levels of management on both customer and information system side
  6. Lead stakeholder meetings to ensure focus, maintain an attitude of commitment, and share responsibilities/needs from each member involved
  7. Manage 3rd party vendor activities and ensure they are meeting their commitments
  8. Participate in the selection and on-boarding of new vendors
  9. Proactively and re-actively resolve day-to-day project issues
  10. Communicate status updates to internal and external stakeholders
  11. Follow key project management methodology
  12. Manage cross functional teams of up to 10 team members

  3. Create, optimize and drive structured schedules and project plans across divisions and cross-functional teams
  4. Set and meet deadlines with quality deliverables, effectively adapting and modifying plans based on changing conditions, client resources and product information
  5. Communicate progress across internal and external teams and executive leadership
  6. Connect all the pieces of the initiative by thinking end-to-end, while leveraging all available assets to solve problems and create value for both short and long horizons


  1. Ability to manage external vendors
  2. Ability to adhere and promote standard project management tools, procedures, and best practices
  3. Strong analytic skills and attention to detail
  4. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and strong track record of setting and meeting commitments
  5. An insatiable desire to see things completed with a sense of urgency
  6. Possess exceptional troubleshooting skills
  7. Ability to plan and organize solutions
  8. A track record of successfully delivering or coordinating multiple projects
  9. Must be a self-starter and have excellent time management skills with the ability to balance priorities
  10. Knowledge of SDLC
  11. Understanding of Feature Driven Development (FDD), Prototyping and Scrum agile methods
  12. Understanding and experience using JIRA, MS Project, SmartSheets, or other scheduling tools
  13. Knowledge on capacity planning (resource leveling, etc.)
  14. Experience in Risk reporting
  15. Ability to manage external vendors
  16. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  17. Professional who is calm under pressure and focused on driving objective results
  18. PMP Education or certificate preferred ,but not required

  1. A minimum of 5 years of successfully completing projects on time and on budget
  2. At least 3 years managing multiple external vendors to complete projects.
  3. Proven ability to manage multiple team members across numerous teams in a matrixed environment.
  4. Proven ability to influence others to ensure tasks are completed on time
  5. Proven ability to work in collaboration with customers, building and developing effective relationships
  6. High energy and enthusiasm with an emphasis on teamwork and positive communication
  7. An insatiable desire to see things completed with an extreme sense of urgency
  8. Self-motivated and self-directed but also capable of following directions from management
  9. A positive outlook on life
