How This Role impacts Live Oak and its People 

The Senior Credit Officer approvecredit requests within individual loan authority adhering to Bank policies and Government program guidelines.  They will assist in the review of the Bank's loan portfolio on a continuing basis in order to prevent or reduce loan losses; assures documentation is in compliance with loan approvals, State and Federal regulations; assists in the detection of deterioration in loan quality; reviews and ensures compliance policy objectives are met.  

What you’ll Do at Live Oak 

  • Approves credit requests within individual loan authority and within Bank Policies and Government program guidelines.  
  • Maintains excellent loan quality of portfolio through superior underwriting.  
  • Assists the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) within the implementation of a system of credit analysis and control of quality for all loans made as required by the policy approved by the Board of Directors.  
  • Assigns ratings as needed in conjunction with the loan loss reserve analysis.  
  • Performs written analyses on all large loans, large aggregate lending to one borrower, complex loans, and weak loans.  
  • May assist in the preparation of periodic reports to Board of Directors.  
  • Is active in portfolio management, preparing periodic studies of various portions of the loan portfolio to improve underwriting and servicing.  
  • Serves as Regulatory Liaison.  
  • Serves in other capacities as directed by the Chief Credit Officer.  

How You’ll Do It             

  • Collaborates and proactively engagewith the sales team to stay abreast with industry trends. 
  • Exercises sound judgement. 
  • Performs site visits where necessary. 
  • Takes part in credit training on formal and informal basis.  
  • Acts as voting member on the loan committee 

Required and Preferred Experience 

  • Twenty years of financial analysis experience required.  
  • Experience credit decisioning and underwriting Commercial & Industrial, Corporate Real Estate and Corporate Financed credits. 
  • Ten years of experience approving commercial loan credits. 
  • In-depth knowledge of bank policies, procedures and criteria. 
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance policies and procedures. 
  • In-depth knowledge of SBA, USDA and other Government program guidelines. 
  • Strong mathematical skills. 
  • Detail oriented, high level of ownership and accuracy. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance is required; an MBA is preferred. 
  • Functions as a team and realizes all members of the team are vital to its success.  
  • Travel may be required.  
  • Performs other duties as required.
