Live Oak Bank supports Jimmy Neil’s Efforts to Raise Money for Cancer

By |August 16th, 2011|

August 16, 2011 – Wilmington, NC – The idea behind Pelotonia started in 2008 when two friends, one being a cancer survivor, rode 163 miles across Cape Cope in support of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The strenuous but rewarding ride created a strong bond between the two men and inspired Tom Lennox to come up with the business model for Pelotonia. The concept is that corporate partners cover the expenses of the actual race to ensure that every penny of every dollar raised by the cyclists goes directly to fund cancer research. He couldn’t ignore the statistics that 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime.

From August 19th – 21st, Jimmy Neil will participate in the grassroots bike [...]
